Célkitűzéseink
I am Emőke Kerekes, a photographer, a teacher of photography, one of the founders and president of the COPY COLLECTION ASSOCIATION.
I lived in Budapest for decades, went to school there and graduated from the Department of Photography at the Moholy-Nagy University of Arts. In 2013 I moved to Cluj.
I took part in the adult training of countless photographers, I taught the theory and practice of photography in both big cities through workshops and camps. I was able to experience first-hand the popularity of photography with the proliferation of digital and smart devices. That is why I believe that knowledge of contemporary photography no longer plays an important role not only in creation and self-expression, but also in deepening self-knowledge and broadening general education.
Photography and motion pictures are real visual magic languages. Their acquisition is not tied to age, gender, or status. On the other hand, the opportunities that make it easier for a metropolitan person to study and develop - galleries, museums, and exhibitions, events and discourses of various art institutions - hardly reach the countryside, especially not in a Transylvanian village. Those who live here are left out of these opportunities.
Once upon a time, village libraries helped to promote a love of learning, learning, and reading. Today, in the age of visual communication, it is also necessary to create similar cultural and training surfaces.
We believe that the life and future of at least one person in every village or small town could be different if they had the opportunity to meet the opportunity to learn these visual languages in their place of residence.
Our non-profit association was founded in December 2020 in Havadtő, a small settlement in Mureş County, with my husband, cameraman Zoltán Balla. We live and work partly here as two people, but our association also includes artists living in other Transylvanian cities, as well as in Hungary, Germany and Ireland.
The aim of our association is to promote and educate contemporary photography and experimental motion pictures in settlements where contemporary visual culture rarely or not at all reaches. That is why we organize our programs primarily in villages, addressing and involving those living there and local communities.
We have realized our events so far on our own, with the enthusiasm of our association members. But in order to move on, to develop our programs and events, we also need external support.
